Why it's "World Taikai" instead of Championship or World Cup

Shorinji Kempo tournaments are not just about winning or losing.

Due to the format of the tournament, there are evaluation points and rankings, so it is easy to think that it is a competition to win or lose, but the emphasis is on the culture of kumite, which is embu, and other people collide with each other and fight. Since it is not a (fight) match, it is called “Taikai” rather than “Championship” or “World Cup”.

"World Championship"

Including popular martial arts such as karate, judo, boxing, K1, general,
It is often used as a general connotation in kendo, aikido, swimming, and other competitions.

"World Cup・World Cup"

It is used in ball sports such as soccer and futsal.
